Original Recipe:

Brown-Sugar Pecan Cookies:

Amy Vanderbilt's Complete Cookbook; 1961

3 tblsp butter or margarine
1 c brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 c pecan halves
1/4 c flour
1 tsp vanilla

Start oven at moderate (350°F). Grease two cooky sheets well. Dust lightly with flour.
Melt butter or margarine in saucepan and stir in sugar. Beat egg and add with nuts, flour, and vanilla. Mix thoroughly. Drop from teaspoon onto prepared cooky sheets, about 5 inches apart, to allow for spreading.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes. Remove from oven. Let cookies stand just 1 minute. Use wide spatula to remove to cake rack to cool.
Makes 3 to 4 dozen cookies.

My Modified Recipe:

Brown-Sugar Granola Cookies:

3 tblsp butter
1 c brown sugar, packed
1 egg
1 c granola mix
1/4 c flour
1 tsp vanilla
1/4 tsp ground clove
1/4 tsp salt

Heat oven to 350°F
Grease 2 cookie sheets using baking spray.
Melt butter in saucepan and stir in sugar. Reduce heat to low, beat in egg (pull pan from heat when adding egg). Mix thoroughly. Place pan back on heat and add granola mix, flour, vanilla, ground clove, and salt. Mix thoroughly.
Drop from teaspoon onto prepared cookie sheets, a few inches apart to allow for spreading.
Bake 9 - 12 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven, let cool for about 5 minutes, place on cooling racks.
I think this should make 2 - 3 dozen cookies, but with all the sampling, the count was lost.

Second Attempt:

Increased the flour to 1/3 c flour, reduced the ground clove to 1/8 tsp, reduced the salt to 1/8 tsp.
Still no accurate count of the cookies.
