Favorite Things

Well, this is a bit hard since I like so many things. I enjoy certain musicals, my favorite ones are Cats, Fiddler on the Roof & Riverdance ( I especially enjoy the DVD recorded in New York City), I saw Riverdance in Colorado Springs in 2003 and I was disappointed that the orchestra was not with them.

I am still hoping to get the posters of Cats & Fiddler on the Roof. I do have a recording of T.S Eliot Old Possom's Book of Practical Cats, where Frank Lloyd Webber got the idea for Cats. I also saw Fosse in 2003 as well, they did a great version of Sing, Sing, Sing.

In March 2006, I finally saw Cats, it wasn't like the London version, but it was still good.

I love cartoons, whenever possible we buy those $1.00 special VHS tapes which have about 8 cartoons on them. The local stations no longer play cartoons during the week and the weekend stuff is mostly crap. No wonder our kids are so screwed up.

Sci Fi is my favorite form of entertainment. Why? Because our future is out there, the great unknown. It was believed that flight would never happen, that it was a thing of books written by lunatics and read by the same. Just like on Star Trek, we will have something that resembles warp drive, the medicine we use will be a combination of modern medicine and ancient medicine. As much as the western doctors won't admit it, we all know that ancient medicines especially Chinese will be mixed with modern medicine and people will live longer and healthier lives. We need to get away from this hatred towards each other and explore the stars. Wouldn't you rather die in space exploring the unknown, then to die here because others are to immature to overlook the fact you don't have the same belief as they do? At the rate humans are going, the dream of space flight will never truly be realized. Don't die for stupid beliefs of others, if your so bent on killing yourself, do it exploring space. Make something of yourself, don't waist your life on those who really don't care who you are, they just want you to die for their false beliefs. Wouldn't you rather be known for doing something positive and not as one who died a needless death by the commands of a nut who has never told the truth in there lives? The future of humans is in your hands, be the ones who will save this world from destruction.

My list of favorite movies is rather long. And remember, I don't own all of these, these are just my favorites. The Star Wars Trilogy regular and widesreen movies, the widescreen also has the extra effects. Other favorites are The Italian Job (the original mind you, not that sad new one with the same name), Galaxy Quest, The Psycho movies, I have 4 of those, the last one is very interesting ( I love suspenseful movies), A Clockwork Orange, Flowers in the Attic, The Emerald Forest, The entire Aliens Saga, Monsters Inc, Bambi, Apocalypse Now ( I have yet to see the director cut), Dances with Wolves, Gladiator, Braveheart, The God's Must be Crazy 1 & 2 ( I hear that here is a three more installment of this as well), if you want to see a really good horror movie, see Maniac, the graphics are the best I have seen in a horror movie.

More favorites Schindlers List, Solar Babies, I have most of the Star Trek movies, Stargate, Omega Code 1 & 2, The Odessa File, Groundhog Day, Fahrenheit 451,The Chronicals of Narnia, A Christmas Story, Caveman, The Wizard of Oz (I have the original movie as well, nothing like the one Judy stared in), the Herbie the Love Bug movies, the Indy movies, Back to the Future trilogy, Stuart Little 1 and 2, Vanilla Sky, Grumpy and Grumpier Old Men, The Last Train, A Man and a Woman, Willy Wonkas Chocolate Factory, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, In Like Flint & Our Man Flint, Single White Female, Jagged Edge. Frankenstein, Dracula, King Kong (the old black & white ones mind you). The Passion of the Christ, The Riddick movies (really cool stuff), The Ultimate Matrix Collection, this has 10 discs in it. Plus many others. I enjoy science fiction, horror, suspense, drama, action, family.

I am a huge Godzilla and other Giant Monsters fan, did you know that Godzilla represents the United States? A real eye opener on what the Japanese thought of the United States when Godzilla first came out.

We don't have cable or satelite, when you have medical bills, some things you learn to deal with and we live with an antennae, which gives us a chance to watch some tv. We do have a dsl for the computers, when you run a website, you need dsl.

My favorite TV shows I will begin with my current favorite Stargate Atlantis and Stargate SG-1, CSI, ER and NCIS. From there we go to home repair shows, most cooking shows, Cold Case is pretty good, I also try to warch Extreme Makeover Home Edition and Desperate Housewives (I watch this with my wife), plus there are others.

The ones I am trying to get copies of are Babylon 5 and Battlestar Gallactica, these are currently out on VHS, VCD and DVD.

Through the years I have added to my collection of music. I have not bought a lot of music that is of the new variety. I do like Blue Man Group. But mixed in with my Zepplin, Styx, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, Blondie, Petra, Sheila Walsh, Alan Parsons Project, Kate Bush, is Metallica, Smash Mouth Pumpkins, Sugar Ray, Stryker, Daniel Dax, Rob Zombie, some heavy rocking stuff. Then there is Nancy Sinatra, Glenn Miller, Don Williams, a whole bunch of classical music (especially Peter and the Wolf), along with big band, blues, jazz, soul, religious, easy listening, country and let's not forget my favorite time of year, Christmas. I have many recordings from all over the world for this festive of seasons.
I am not a big fan of Rap Music, some of it's ok, but when you hear it in the form of a box on wheels that's squeaking and shuddering as it's clanging down the street it becomes an ear sore. It's amusing when the vehicle all of a sudden goes pop and smoke pours out of the trunk. Then with the exception of the screams from the driver the street is quit again at least for a few minutes til the next loud bucket of bolts rolls up. But alas it does not suffer the fate of the previous vehicle.
We may not all see eye to eye. I grew up listening to The Beatles, The Doors, Pink Floyd, Nancy Sinatra, plus I listened to Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., and many others, I also started to listen to music from other countries. Since I grew up the way I did, I can appreciate different forms of music. Others are different, for some if it's not classical music, your not considered classy. Who ever came up with rubbish like that needs to be placed in a room with Eminem cranked (ouch).

My audio formats are reel to reel, cassette, digital cassette, 8-track, vinyl, cd and mp3. My video formats are vhs video, vhs pal video, beta video, select a vision, laserdisc, vcd, dvd, 8mm & super 8mm film.

Books I am not a big fan of, I have hundreds of books and I have read most of them. I am just not a big reader. There are suspense and drama books, along with my poetry books and the writings of the old days. I also have written short stories and poems. My Bible is The King James and I have lots of reference material to go along with it. A good place for online Bibles is E-Sword.
I thought I would add books on tape and cd to this. My wife brought home a few books in these formats and I have started to listen to them. Some are funny, some interesting, some are really stupid. My favorite so far is called Lake Wobegon Days.

Off to foods. In order are my favorite foods: Japanese (I love Sushi, as long as I don't make it, to time consuming), Greek, Chinese, American, Mexican, Italian, German, and everything else. I just love food. I always have and I hope to still be able to enjoy it when I am old and grey. Who wants bland food.... YUCK!

When I am feeling well, I like to take walks. I used to go hiking all the time, I hope to one day be able to do that again. I enjoy time with my wife, my pets, working around the yard and also just working around the house. My favorite place is the kitchen. I hope to one day have my office close to the kitchen. Since I do tons of work in the office and have to also cook our meals and do the ever important experiments, this would be best.

I guess that's it for now, I will add to this when I can....
