* id·i·o·cy [id-ee-uh-see]
utterly senseless or foolish behavior; a stupid or foolish act, statement, etc.

Let's have some fun shall we? The following was written by Ben Wasserman and is a prime example of how corrupt and paid off the FDA is.

FDA Warns Companies For Health Claims Over Cherry Products
By Ben Wasserman
Oct 31, 2005, 08:28

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a warning letter on October 27, 2005 to 29 companies that manufacture, market, or distribute products made from cherries or other fruits. The letter warns that the health benefits of cherries are unsubstantiated and related health claims have not been disproved by the agency.

The letter says, "this review shows serious violations of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (the Act) in the labeling of this product. You can find the Act and implementing regulations through links on FDA's Internet home page at www.fda.gov. Under the Act, articles intended for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation, treatment or prevention of disease in man are drugs [Section 201(g)(1)(B) of the Act]." The letter continues, "these claims cause your product to be a drug, as defined in section 201(g)(1)(B) of the Act."

Some critics say certain foods should be treated as preventive drugs, even though they do not have the same toxic side-effects as prescription drugs. The reason is if a person keeps taking certain foods such as fruits and vegetables, he will be less likely to have many health conditions such as scurvy. Although taking supplemental vitamin C can prevent scurvy, one can also prevent and cure the condition by eating plenty of fruits and vegetables, which contain a lot of vitamin C. According to the definition of a drug set in the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, fruits and vegetables actually function as an effective drug in this case.

The letter also says, "because this product is not generally recognized as safe and effective when used as labeled, it is also a new drug as defined in section 201(p) of the Act. Under section 505 of the Act, a new drug may not be legally marketed in the United States without an approved New Drug Application (NDA)."

There is no evidence indicating use of cherries is unsafe. In contrast, numerous studies have proved that use of cherries and their products may potentially help many health conditions. Cherries have served humans as a healthy food for thousands of years. Its safety might not be in question.

The FDA cited 29 companies, because they associated their cherry products with potential health benefits. "The companies cited are marketing dried fruit, fruit juice, and juice concentrate for treating or preventing of a variety of diseases, including cancer, heart disease, and arthritis", the FDA said in a statement.

Some companies complained that they do not make any firm health claims. They use wording like "may" or "potentially". They merely tell the readers of their Web sites what the scientific community has discovered about cherries and some compounds in cherries.

Although the FDA disallows any health claims over cherry products or anything else without prior approval, cherries offer a wide range of nutrients and bioactive components including high potassium, boron, vitamin C, B complex and minerals, quercetin, anthocyanins, and amygdalin (Vitamin B17 and laetrile), according to the California Cherry Advisory Board. Studies prove that many of these compounds possess chemopreventive properties and/or prevent (or relieve) many diseases.

The take-home message for the consumer is that the warning does not intend to discount the health benefits of cherries or cherry products. It is just that the companies of concern do not follow the protocol to obtain prior approval before claiming any health benefits of cherries. Cherries, like many other fruits and vegetables, are an essential part of a healthy diet. Many consumers count on them to prevent disease. Although cherries have not been recognized by the FDA as a drug, the federal government agencies recommend five or more servings of fruits and vegetables (including cherries) a day to maintain good health or prevent diseases.

How long are we going to allow an agency that uses obvious questionable practices to keep killing us? This is what happens with the false belief of tax cuts. They have to get there money from somewhere, so they get the money from the Pharmaceutical companies who as you are learning kill for profit. When a natural fruit or vegetable can cure without all those negative side effects then you learn the truth. People these agencies and companies do not care about you, you are just a steady source of gullible income.

* gullible [guhl-uh-buhl]
easily tricked or fooled
Example: The people are so gullible they believe everything the FDA tells them.

I will say that not all drugs are bad, but when they know something is better for you and cheaper to make and safer to use and they opt not to use because of financial gain, that makes all parties involved corrupt and when people are knowingly killed because of these products that also makes all of these parties murderers and yet nothing has been done to them.

Bottom line, do your research especially with something recommended by the FDA in regards to your health. As stated, you are just there gullible income.

The FDA was created to protect us from harmful products, it seems they lost direction somewhere along the way.

Also be warned of those homeopathic doctors and supplements that are supposed to make you feel better. As with the pharmaceutical companies, the supplement companies will send you on a ride as well. Always, always, always do your research on anything anyone says is good for you. And if you start feeling bad after taking something, stop taking it. Some things say you will feel bad before feeling better, there is a difference between feeling bad and feeling downright in misery. Just because something works for someone else does not mean it will work for you. If you can try to get a PH test done and an allergy test done. Knowing what your body is up against is your first line of defense. Don't go just by what someone tells you. Drugs of any kind that are good for some have and will kill others. Supplements of any kind that are good for others can be bad and leave a person in misery and will even kill. Not all drugs or supplements are bad and not all are good. If you can find a modern doctor who is also educated in using homeopathic medicine, you have a really good chance of getting healthy and staying that way. Remember to always do your research and if it is not working for you, stop using it and let your doctor know. If your doctor doesn't listen to you, find a new doctor.

Recently several drug companies have put up websites saying how good there products are and they have proven there products are good. Yes, they did a study saying how good there products are. Imagine eating right, having a healthier lifestyle and take our drugs and you will feel better. Try eating right and having a healthier lifestyle first before taking the drugs which cause more side effects then what they are worth. These are the same companies that said there pain killers and anti-inflamatories were good for you and have now pulled there bad (and sometimes deadly) products off of the market. They are doing the same thing the tobacco industries did in the 1970's with there campaign on how good smoking was and the fact it causes cancer was an old wives tale. We now know the truth about the effects smoking has on a person.

I can't stress enough how important it is for you and your health to do research on anything a doctor or hospital wants you to take, some drugs have to be given right away especially when you go to the emergency room, if you experience any discomfort at all, let the nurses know right away. I had a freaky reaction to a drug one time and went into panic mode, they gave me something that calmed me down and talked to me to help and it did help. When they want to put you onto something long term, please do the research. Know what you are taking and what conflicts with it including other drugs, supplements and foods.

One more thing, if taking a drug means it will prolong your life, give it a try. Not all drugs are bad, but since the industry hasn't been honest, no one knows which ones are really good and which aren't. Maybe the industry should try being honest. Live a healthier life, go for a walk, increase your fruits and vegetables, lower your salt if needed. A lot of good can come out of a few simple changes. There is so much you can do with what is out there. Do the research, do the reading. Listen, learn and live. It's not easy, I know this to well. You have to try. Don't go by words alone, talk with others. You are not alone, who knows, maybe the industry will get the hint and start to be honest and do a real mix of healthy drugs made naturally and healthier living. It will happen one day, the sooner the better. But, we need to take care of these questionable practices.

I will say I am sorry if this page has offended any of the good people who work in these fields, they know who they are. They are probably as upset as the rest of us that the medical field has chosen to go the greedy route and just mask symptoms instead of the best route which is to prevent and cure illnesses. There is no reason why one can't be healthy and wealthy.

Again, to the good ones I am sorry and thank you for your work. To the bad and the corrupt ones well, you know what I and the rest of the people think about you. I will still say a prayer for you, I can't do anything for your soul, that's the LORD's. I can just pray that you see the error of your ways and try to do something to correct them. Not all of the research is bad, the outcome of some is truly sad. So, I pray for the medical field and all those in it whether you are good or bad. And I say a prayer for those who are counting on you for the good you can provide that you will do just that.

You may also find Chronic Scurvy a very useful article as well.
