We have received over Ten Million hits since April 2003. This is so great.

Even though we had the problems with the counter, we were still able to track a significant amount of hits for The Cooking Inn.

Back in April 2003 we switched Web Service Providers. Some of you remember that awkward transition, kind of like Dead Air Space that Radio and Television Stations get.

Well, this new service provider has something called Webalizer which keeps track of everything. We have discovered that what we thought was at the most 800 to 1,000 hits a month in reality is 80,000 to 100,000 hits. This has us feeling somber to say the least. We had no idea so many people have visited the site.

The reason for this discrepancy is our site counter is only on the main menu page, it is not on every page. It turns out that people look for things on search engines (specific things), in doing this they do not look through the rest of the site. Why? Who knows.

What is important here is that they find what they need. In doing this they will come back for more information and let others know as well. We are working on a new layout for the Inn, one that will have a counter on each page. In the meantime we am doing away with the old meter and I will be implementing one from the data collected by the server. This will be a more accurate assessment of the traffic coming to the web site.

We will update these statistics about every other week and the first of the month.

A new server means new changes, as I figure out this new and not so convenient statistics form things won't be complete for the first couple of months, some people just can't leave a good thing alone.
